The City of McAllen and McAllen Convention Center competed with other events from throughout the state of Texas in various categories, ranging from print, video, digital, apparel, and activities. A total of 488 entries were judged by a panel of marketing professionals, and the City of McAllen representatives returned home with over 50 awards.
"The TFEA Marketing and Communication Awards program recognizes excellence in campaigns used to promote festivals and events," said TFEA Executive Director, Kay Wolf. "This competition recognizes the creativity and professionalism of the Texas festivals and events industry.”
McAllen Convention Center Director, Omar Rodriguez, Marketing & Special Events Supervisor, Laurie Pulido, and Director of Grant Administration Office, Carla Rodriguez were among the team who traveled to the annual conference where they accepted several awards, including recognition for designs by our creative team for PalmFest, Sunset Live Outdoor Concert Series, McAllen International Carfest, and McAllen State of the City Address.
“These awards and recognition solidify to our team that we have an amazing partner in Black Koi 360,” said Pulido.

Work for these projects begins months before people see the first ad in the paper or a post on social media. "We always put a lot of work and emotion into our designs. We aim at creating visual elements we love and hope others will love as well," said Lu Gimello, Creative Director at BK360. "There truly isn't a bigger honor than knowing your peers and colleagues praise your work."

BLACK KOI 360 has been working with the McAllen Convention Center for the past few years in creating beautiful, well-thought visual elements for their events. Earlier this year, we were honored to received four American Advertising Awards for designs created for TEDxMcAllen and Cattle Baron's Ball of the RGV as part of our "Design for Social Good" campaign.
The Texas Festivals and Events Association represents the hundreds of festivals that celebrate the history, legends, culture, art, folklore, and natural beauty of the Lone Star State. Members of TFEA are given a platform to learn, grow, and increase professional standards and practices surrounding the creation, implementation, and marketing of special events and festivals.
